Bridgeport Activist "Grits" Arrested After Social Media Threats Following Fatal Police Shooting

Bridgeport, CT – Joe "Grits" Thompson, a local figure and friend of Dyshan Best, who was recently killed in a police shooting, was arrested Monday for allegedly making threatening social media posts. According to an arrest warrant, Thompson's posts included "somebody should die with a badge on" alongside photos of the involved officer, Yoon Heo. He also allegedly posted flyers labeling Heo and another officer as "wanted for murder."

Thompson faces charges of second-degree threatening and inciting injury. While some view his actions as dangerous, others see his arrest as an attempt to stifle community anger over Best's death. Thompson, who has since been released on bond, claims confusion over the charges.

The arrest intensifies the already high tensions in Bridgeport following Best's fatal shooting, which is currently under investigation by the Inspector General's office. The incident and Thompson's subsequent arrest underscore the deep divisions within the community.
